The legal bit, in plain language

Why an embassy asks for a reservation — not a paid ticket

Visa rules almost never ask you to pay for travel up front. They ask for proof of your plans. Here is what the rules actually say.

The Schengen Visa Code lists the supporting documents

Regulation (EC) No 810/2009, Article 14 and Annex II, lists the supporting documents an applicant must provide — including documents on the purpose of the journey, accommodation, means of subsistence, and the intention to leave the Schengen area before the visa expires.

The legal text asks for a reservation

Annex II of the Visa Code refers to a round-trip ticket or booking reservation showing entry and exit dates for the Schengen territory — a reservation, not a paid ticket.

Consulates advise against buying tickets early

Consulates routinely advise applicants not to buy tickets before the visa is granted; the German Federal Foreign Office and France-Visas both frame the paid ticket as something required at or after issue, not at application.

Accommodation proof is mandatory

Proof of accommodation for the full duration of the stay is mandatory for every Schengen application; a hotel reservation is the most common form.

The same logic applies beyond Schengen

Many non-Schengen authorities — UK Standard Visitor, Canada TRV, Japan tourist, India e-visa — commonly request travel and accommodation reservations. These rules are set per country, so treat this as commonly requested, not a legal citation, and always check the official checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Is this legal?

Yes. Visa codes such as the Schengen Visa Code ask for a reservation or booking, not a paid ticket. We provide exactly that: a real reservation, held temporarily, with a verifiable booking reference. You are responsible for the accuracy of everything else in your application.

Is this a fake ticket?

No. A fake or fabricated ticket is a document that does not correspond to any real booking — submitting one can lead to refusal and a fraud record. Our reservations are genuine bookings held with the airline or hotel under a real reference that the consulate can verify while the hold is live.

Will the embassy be able to verify my reservation?

Yes. A consular officer can check the PNR on the airline's website or through the GDS, and can confirm a hotel reservation directly with the property using the confirmation number. Our documents include instructions for exactly that.

How long is the reservation valid?

Flight holds typically remain verifiable for several days up to two weeks depending on the airline and fare; hotel reservations stay live for the period booked with free cancellation. Your document states the validity window — plan your appointment inside it.
